Deptt providing treated drinking water to public after following SOPs: Govt | KNO

Srinagar, Oct 29 (KNO): The government on Wednesday said that the areas of Bagwanpora, Nawabbagh, Mir Behri Dal, Amdakadal, Badamwari, Gulshan Bagh, and other parts of Zadibal constituency are being supplied water from sources including Nigeen Lake, Dal Lake, Dachigam Nallah and SE Canal. In a written reply to a question by MLA Tanvir Sadiq regarding the provision of safe drinking water, the Jal Shakti Department clarified that untreated sewage is not flowing directly into these water bodies. “The Department is providing treated drinking water to the public after following SOPs with regular testing before supply. All parameters are within permissible limits as per BIS standards,” the reply, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reads. The government further informed that the work on the Alesiting Water Supply Scheme, aimed at providing safe drinking water to the said areas, is expected to be completed by June 2026, subject to the availability of funds—(KNO)
